Week gets better

I should learn by now that things take longer to do than my head thinks they are suppose to. I have one chair 3/4 sanded. The pieces that are finished look pretty good. I will finish the other pieces tonight and start painting the ones I have done. I guess projects like this keep me out of trouble and get me out outside.

It's nice to be able to have weekends off to do these projects. When I was working retail hours, it was hard to get motivated to get stuff done. This weekend I am going to finish the chairs, and if Darren gets the walls washed in the spare room, maybe I'll finish that too. We'll see.....
I wasn't able to get my jog in, because the silly sanding took longer than I expected. At least my arm got a work out.

Yesterday when I was going through the fridge for lunch I found the rhubarb I forgot I had received from my sister-in-law. I was so excited!!! I absolutely LOVE rhubarb! So I made waffles and topped them with a homemade rhubarb and strawberry sauce. I used 1/2cup of sugar, 1/2 cup water, boiled together, then added 2 cups of sliced rhubarb, simmered on low for 10 minutes and added 2 cups of halved strawberries and turned off the heat. I let the mixture sit for another 5-10 minutes as I waited for the waffles to finish cooking. It was heaven!! This morning I added some of the left over sauce to my oatmeal, WOW it was good!!

I froze the rest of the sliced rhubarb in 4 cup servings, I can't wait to find new recipes to try!!

I wonder how hard it would be to care for a rhubarb plant.... I wouldn't mind having one in the back yard to go out and pick a couple of stem.

My poor dad. About 3 weeks ago he was at work and they were pushing a small car into the shop. Well Dad's foot got caught under the tire and was run over. He's been on crutches this whole time and has a really swollen foot. Last Friday my parents went up to Calgary to get an x-ray. It came back yesterday and showed that Dad's foot has two broken bones and a torn ligament. He now has a cast on for 6-8 weeks. He hasn't been to work in over 3 weeks and is going crazy! My mom has him sewing quilts. I think I will pick him up a model to build....

Goals for the day:
1) 30 min jog
2) no snacking or eating after 8pm
3) start painting the chair
